KTU all set for an academic revolution

The Kerala Technological University is rolling out this year a slew of new academic initiatives, including the introduction of a new course BTech Honours, squashing of practical exams, open book examination and academic auditing, according to Dr M Abdul Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor of Kerala Technological University.

Speaking at Ask Expert 2015, a professional course guidance seminar conducted by Mathrubhumi at Kozhikode, he said that all the 163 colleges except for seven colleges will come under the Kerala Technological University from this year.

“The whole system of the technological university will be student centric. Everything will be made online. Students will be given a login and password. We are also introducing online valuation. Within two hours of the theory exam, each examination paper will be scanned and send to the university and also the particular professor who taught the subject,” he explained.

The student will also get the chance to appear for the supplementary exam before the next semester starts. The student needs to register not for the semester but for the course. He can choose how many subjects he need to choose to study in each semester. The academic calendar has already been published. No college or institution will be allowed to go against the time schedule of the academic calendar.

According to him, gradually management courses, hotel management courses, MCA and architecture will come under Kerala Technological University.
